Sometimes an employer requires employees to work "off the clock" without compensation. Unless the employee is exempt under the FLSA, their employer must pay them for all hours worked. When an employee works off the clock hours, that employee is expected to complete work-related tasks before or after their normal work hours.
If an employee reports for work at the scheduled time and is forced to wait for work, the time spent in waiting is counted as working time.
